tell me

4 March, 2008 at 2:03 pm (Blogroll, improsing not impressing)

tell me.

when did you stop meaning the words that you say?
when did you stop feeling the things that you do?

tell me.

tell me.

when did you learn how to lie?
to fake a smile?
and close your heart?

tell me.

tell me.

when did you lose your way?

tell me.
when did you …

… stop?

Wallers

He never read the Wall Street Journal.

Instead he stared at his 42nd floor panoramic window and gazed at the city clock, almost idolizing it, almost looking for answers on how to make the day go faster, how to escape his black carpeted floor and rich mahogany desk. But each giant tick of the second hand would go on disregarding him, barely acknowledging his significance.
This man, who never read the Wall Street Journal, or even picked it up, was blessed with a talent. The Stock Market Gods decided to smile down on this one man. They gave him insight and knowledge all the “Wallers” painfully seeked. He was a natural; if naturals even existed on The Street, it would have definitely been him. He made all decisions, financial or otherwise, oh a whim, on a gut instinct, on a “why the hell not?!” notion. And he was enviously right. Everytime. All the time. In each thoughtless risk and in every fickle idea he came across, money grew, and he flourished on The Street.
So everyday, instead of reading the required literature of stock brokers and brushing up on the latest news of the rise and fall of stocks, the bankruptcy of a rival company, and the occasional heart stopping, stroke causing gossip (ei: A major figure in a major company suprisingly taking a step down after recently being majorly promoted) Charles R. Dagny would watch the city clock. He would sit on his comfortable leather chair, twiddle two Chinese ‘energy’ balls his secretary gave to him about 3 or 4 Christmases ago, and sigh…
